“You have to push in to find your way out”
No Hard Feelings (2023) streaming on Amazon Prime, Apple TV and some other streaming networks all for a cost. First you have to know this movie is just CHAOS, which I love. I also got to recognize Jennifer Lawrence for really committing to her character. This movie was just so comical. She really just dove in to this character, because I mean that skinny dipping beach scene just put her on top. So yes warning it is raunchy.
Her character is a 32 year old who desperately needs a car in order to pay her bills. Accurate. So she then ends up finding a Craigslist ad to go out with a socially awkward 19 year old boy to get a free car. Which I mean who wouldn’t its a free perfectly working car. Plus this kid’s parents were really desperate if they needed to essentially hire someone to go out with their son. This is why you should not spoil your kids and essentially control their life. At least get them a sibling or a really close cousin so they don’t become socially inept.
She tries to entice him to have “adult affairs” with her but he is obviously does not understand the innuendos because he is essentially a bubble boy. Throughout this movie she essentially breaks him out of his shell by doing normal people things like going to parties and laser tag. Growing up I was always so scared to try things or get in trouble, so I can relate to him. It does make it easier when you have a friend or someone that can go through crazy things with you to make you feel less alone. Plus one person can’t catch two people running in different directions.
Of course the guy does not know his parents hired her to go out with him and the secret eventually comes out right. So they both part ways and move on with their lives. During this “break up” Jennifer Lawrence’s character becomes a responsible adult; she saves money. She apologizes to him in the most chaotic way of course to bring this movie full circle. She ends up moving across the country to live her life. In a way this was like a coming of age story but for an adult. She realizes she can’t just stay stuck in her old life, in her mom’s house, with no future, instead she grows up and sells the house to her pregnant friends to keep them from moving. She ventures out to do what she always wanted to do, while dropping of her new friend at college, and of course brings along a dog with her because why not.
Would you respond to a insane sounding ad to make fast cash or even get a free car?
